When I was in Saudi Arabia one of our Korean contractors operating a backhoe set down his hydraulic stabilizers which lift the backhoe off the ground so he could dig a trench.
Unfortunately one of the local Saudi boys was curious and snuck up so close the backhoe support cut off three of the boy's toes.
The court threw the machine operator into jail and made the Korean company stop all work until the issue was resolved. The father of the boy insisted on the old American "eye for an eye" that three toes of the operator be cut off.
After about four months with no work being done and the operator in jail the boy's father accepted a financial deal with lots of apologies.
