. I have found the opposite more often true in today's 'age of reason'. People don't know what to believe because they do not study and know God's word. A vast knowledge expansion has occurred in the medical and technological fields while pandemic ignorance of God's precious Word leaves mankind I'll equipped to fight off our arch enemy who fights to destroy our families and our souls. . In arguably the weakest moment in Jesus life on earth (besides Gethsemane), he faced his greatest enemy after 40 days without food in a desert equipped with one weapon. A thorough knowledge and accurate handling of God's Word. To be sure one can know Scripture without having a relationship with God, but as sinners separated naturally from God, I believe we are more inclined to concoct our own distorted view if Him without a passion to know how He has revealed himself in Scripture. . If our greatest enemy has a thorough knowledge of God's Word, how much more should those for whom He gave His life ransom and to whom he granted reconciliation?
Just look at how far we've fallen in our nation and leader's view of the importance of Scripture in this link..
""To a man of liberal education, the study of history is not only useful, and important, but altogether indispensable, and with regard to the history contained in the Bible . . . "it is not so much praiseworthy to be acquainted with as it is shameful to be ignorant of it."[61] JOHN QUINCY ADAMS""
I do wish I were more dedicated to learn the entire Bible myself. Perhaps this could be my new years resolution...
