Pathfinder Cell Therapy is developing a novel cell-based therapy for the treatment of diabetes, renal disease, myocardial infarction, and other diseases characterized by organ-specific cell damage. Pathfinder has discovered a new mammalian cell type, which is able to stimulate damaged tissues to regenerate without the Pathfinder Cells (“PCs”) themselves being incorporated into the new tissue.
Pathfinder Cells have a unique set of properties: PCs can be found in a number of different organs including the kidney, liver, pancreas, lymph nodes, myometrium, bone marrow and blood PCs are “immune privileged” and are able to work across species or between immunologically different individuals PCs can be differentiated from other cell types through cell surface and other markers PCs can stimulate the regeneration of a number of organs independent of the tissue source of the PCs.
