Well, if the company can convince hundreds, if not thousands, of us investors to believe that they're sitting on some tremendously valuable assets, couldn't they convince 1 man/woman that they're worth the risk because the end reward could be potentially huge?
I'm sure they couldn't pay a CFO what that CFO might normally get in the industry salary-wise, but they could toss them some Preferred Shares, and set them up on a Compensation Plan that rewards them based on certain milestone objectives.
There's plenty of creative ways to structure a compensation package. Where there's a will there's a way.
