Isn't it possible that the world's resources are not sufficient to accomodate such a huge new middle class and that the price of certain commodities will reflect this impossibility? Therefore the adjustment we'll get is a lower living standard in Europe and North America in order to accomodate a higher standard elsewhere. This will not be a smooth transition.
