Thanks John!

I don't know how you resolve (or win) a conflict without understanding the 'enemies' perspective. Yet it is much easier to dehumanize the opponent, rendering his grievences baseless.

I wish that people would consider WHY. Why are we hated? Why are we the target of another peoples war, or "terrorism"? And why is it so difficult to ask WHY?

The Anti-American sentiment around the globe and hatred in the Arab World didn't start in a vacuum. It was a long time building and there were catalysts. Isn't it better that the catalysts are identified, and the merit of those catalysts determined? They call us "Evil Empire". Whether or not our government has earned the title "Evil Empire", I want to understand why were being called this. The privilege of freedom requires that we don't allow our gov to become too oppressive to any people. To ensure our own freedom we must respect the rights of all peoples, etc.
But for now I want to understand WHY?.....But WHY requires dealing with others on a human level, respecting others as human beings, and sometime that's tough in a geo-political environment. It' much easier to dehumanize.

As for "democracy", that's also subjective. There was a time in US history when certain individuals held slaves, women were not permitted to vote, and we called ourselves a "democracy" then... You can call it anything you want, but calling it something does not change what it is. It doesn't change reality.

Best Regards! :)
