Zeev, I think you missed my point....

I said it was "pure evil". It was mass murder, and I was certainly "terrorized". I stated I was "playing devils advocate".

My brother, who was in the WTC when the attack occurred, is a currency trader. My friend, lifelong friend, trades cotton. Wouldn't both be considered an "enemy" if the target is Capitalism? I certainly considered both to be "innocent civilians". Believe me, I was terrified and sick on that morning. The experience was as surreal and nauseating as it was terrifying.

But what "war" or conflict does not involve murder or mass murder? My point was, sometimes the distinction between "freedom fighter" or "terrorist" is a subjective one.

Another example: There was much ado about what occurred in Jenin this year. The Palestinians called it a "massacre". Israel believed they were taking necessary action to destroy a terrorist infrastructure. And Bush would call it "rooting out terrorists, etc". But innocent lives were lost, and Sharon's past is not without it's own "terrorist" suspicion. Was Jenin state sponsored terrorism as some argued, or necessary self defense as the Israeli Gov claims?

Sometimes it's a matter of perception........

zeev, I absolutely do not wish to justify any killings for any reason. I do wonder if for whatever reason one group has for resorting to violent means to effect change of a perceived wrong what the choice of targets can be. Military targets are becoming so sophisticated that, if attacked, the guarantee of total destruction is assured. It's getting worse almost daily for any bent on that course. On the no politics thread today someone posted info about an exo-skeleton for soldiers and I know that bullet proof material is coming that can allow a soldier to take multiple point blank hits from a 50 cal. machine gun. Basically science is negating the 2nd amendment.
