Some day when I have a chance I'll lay out the major drugs which have been released over the last decade and I'll guess dollar for dollar that the majority have come out of small companies. I don't think it has anything to do with smarter but more with innovation.
If we examine our history with Alzheimer's research and funding, I think it was the groupthink by the funding leaders that led us right into a brick wall.
