Zeev, You are right about freedom fighters not targeting civilians, in theory, but sometimes the distinction between "freedom fighter" and "terrorist" becomes somewhat blurred.

Playing devil's advocate here, and assuming (as they claim) that the US Gov and it's Capitalist System are the "enemy" of Osama's radical Islamic Movement......
would targeting the Pentagon, the White House (downed PA plane??), and the WTC as the hub of Capitalism, be view as terrorist acts or acts of war against strategic targets?.....

The Pentagon, the White House, the World Trade Center?... targeting Government and Capitalism?....

Obviously innocent lives were lost , but would the horrific acts of 9/11 be properly considered terrorist acts, targeting innocent civilians? Or, could those acts be considered acts of war, targeting strategic interests, and perpetrated by so-called "freedom fighters"(Al Qaeda), as demented as we believe they are?

During the Russia/Afghanistan War, the US considered Osama one of the "good guys", and provided funding accordingly. I am sure the US Gov considered bin Laden a "freedom fighter" in his opposition to the Russians. He is now considered a "terrorist" because he opposes us. Again, 'one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter'.....

FWIW, my brother and a very dear friend were in those towers when the planes struck. As I watched the towers burn, I knew it was pure evil. The thought of "terrorist" or "freedom fighter" was irrelevent then. What occurred on 9/11 was pure evil, nothing more.

All JMVHO.
