have not many nations already use deadly force before trail by jury in espionage? There is a distinction here,I know,but eliminating threats have always been the accepted practice of many nations in their dealings. Just because you don't read about it in the paper does not mean it does not happpen. In using the press here the military sends a message to all would be and all terrorists. The military could just have easily enacted a press black out and then only conjecture would have been applied as to the where abouts of so and so. What happen a week ago Sunday is nothing new. Interpretation...,now that might be something new.

Therein lies part of the problem..... One man's (or group's) "terrorist" is another's "freedom fighter"..... I am sure that during our own countries fight for independence, our "freedom fighters" would have been deemed "terrorists" by those of an opposing view......
