perhaps the posts could go to a spam folder of sorts

like most email systems have now.. and it could purge automatically..

that way they wouldn't have to flag your inbox but they would still exist

That's how it will work.

They won't be blocked from replying to your post (it was, public, afterall), but their post simply won't show up in your mailbox.
