I saw the same thing, but also noted that even though the offer size was often huge with a very small bid size, the stocks held and did not come down or came down very little, which is very unusual. I have often used the term "phantom buyer" for such things, and it usually happens when there is a buyer in the stock with a large "not held" order to buy. I also noted that this was happening almost exclusively in the large index stocks.
