Peter: Can you guess the number of CT scans (non coronary) that are generated from the ER's accross the country each year? It's mind boggling. Every morning when I come in there are 20-25 CT's done after midnight from the ER clowns at my medium sized hospital. 95% are negative or noncontributory.

The total CT scans done each year is over 72 million (ER, inpatient and outpatient). They cause 29000 cancers per year and kill 14000 people per year.
