These are pretty much my thoughts about the business environment, but CSCO has a lot of resources for financial engineering and could probably make its numbers if it wanted to. Of course, in this market frenzy, where all news is good news, why chip away at the fluff just to make quarterly numbers? <G>

Personally, speaking of financial engineering, I'm waiting for some company to set up a SPE as a shell vehicle for a huge pension plan (with no beneficiaries) and then to claim 10 percent earnings on it. Maybe I'll write to John Chambers and recommend that he call attention to this as part of the business plan going forward.
