Radiation equivalent to ten chest X-rays, although dismissed by the Reuters article as inconsequential, strikes me as a high dose for a procedure to determine whether or not to take a drug.

It is actually quite common where I live. And it is in the process of being accepted by insurance companies.

And the reason is that it is much more predictive of heart disease than any other test in existence - or any combination of tests.

As for radiation dose - 10 chest xrays is a large number, but FWIW small by comparison to the ever more common CT scans.
