I don't understand the bolded part (not busting your chops). PROVE 3 did single DAA plus IFN. Why not single DAA plus rib? And if rib is worth adding to 2 DAA protocol as a prevent-relapse drug, then why not a single DAA?



i agree with DD - if you only have one diret acting agent you will develop drug resistance. interferon suppresses resistant mutants in combination with one DAA, but i think most people don't think ribavirin - with its very weak direct antiviral effects - can effectively suppress resistance to the DAA

From a resistance standpoint, a regimen consisting of a single DAA plus ribavirin without interferon would be tantamount to monotherapy.
