Blood Simple

The Coen brothers' magnificent feature film debut

Scumbag private eye Walsh plans the perfect crime when he's hired by a Texan bar owner to kill his wife (McDormand) and her lover (Getz). But the ploy to fool his employer with mocked up photographic evidence goes spectacularly awry when his shortcut is discovered, and Walsh is forced to knock off the adulterous couple after all.

Jet-black, wickedly funny and driven by an ingenious plot, the film holds all the clues to the Coens' peerless future, including bizarre deaths, itching paranoia and Walsh's delicious performance of sweat-stained villainy.

Hi AD: "Confidence" with Dustin Hoffman and Edward Burns is a real grabber. The original "The In-Laws" with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin is one vert funnt movie. I saw "Inherit the Wind" today with Fredrick March, Spencer Tracy, Harry "Col. Potter" Morgan and Gene Kelly, [one of my top three favorit.]

OT AD 'nother great movie "Body Heat" (1981) William Hurt and Kathleen Turner in a hot hot hot dark dark dark and twisted tale of the not-so-Old South. Fabulous bit part: Mickey Rourke as an arsonist with a heart of gold. All necessary clues are provided.

You must see "The Third Man" with Orson Wells and Joe Cotten. Excellent film noir.

Might be a little old for netflix.
