chipguy, you show the growth of IPF overall but I am more interested in the growth of IPF outside HP, both in terms of growth rate and penetration of the market.
I said for many years that IPF would have a guarenteed niche market for HP & Compaq product (of course, just HP now) since they were EOL'ing their various PA-RISC, mips and Alpha platforms.
So that is a given. How fast is IPF growing outside HP, and what is its non-HP platform sales vs. workstation and server RISC platform sales? (Server separated from workstation totals would be best since IPF is no longer being targetted at the Unix workstation market.)
Actually, at one point I was posting that eventually HP would probably end up owning IPF, although events have moved differently. HP shows no interest in that part of the industry anymore. So Intel is their foundry.
