Hey Doug!
I see charts as visual concoctions of energy now, and tend to glance at them quickly to get a feel for that profile. I do double checks on formation, then drill down into local MA and momentum behavioral patterns before making decisions. But it's the big picture I want immediately, and the energy signature tells me everything I need to know in an instant.
If a chart doesn't have energy I don't go near the stock, no matter the indicator or the pattern or anything else. The energy is born out of buying/selling intensity and volume over time, the ebb and flow of money in and out of a stock. The chart either glows with that, or is dead.
I do this for the complete time range of charts, Weekly, Daily, Intraday.
