So gold would decline indefinitely if the United States went through a deflationary period? Not that it isn't gaining value in all other currencies or anything... right? Only Americans are buying?... so sell it all now at $1318, huh?

Read the speech all the way through and realize that Ben will Produce Ben Franklins until deflation is done. IMHO there is a big threat of deflation but Helicopter Ben will take care of that and when he does QE the money flows into bubbles. See Oil, Real Estate,,, now precious metals.
