I think the main reason would be this: "They could also capitalize projects by selling stock in the parent holding company".

Those really are some very good reasons to have a parent. Especially in CM's case, it would seem a set up like that would actually be necessary considering the multiple businesses he has all operating under one roof.

Maybe we've been the parent all along but have yet to be officially informed? I suspect that might be the case. But at some point it will be necessary to let that info become public so they can sell shares to raise revenue, among other reasons.
