They still mine in winter.Winter roads are roads created across frozen ground,
lakes, and/or rivers. They are crucial for the transportation
of goods, such as food, fuel and medical
supplies, to remote communities in northern Canada.
These roads are also important for mines in the Northwest
Territories and Nunavut. Without them, it would be difficult and
very expensive to bring supplies and equipment to the mine
sites.

The TCWR services several mines and exploration projects,
the major ones being Diavik, Ekati, Gahcho Kue, Jericho, Lupin
and Snap Lake. The road passes through rugged Canadian
Shield country, where exposed rock is the common shoreline.
The lake bottoms are also uneven and water depth is constantly
changing as the route passes over rocky shoals. The road crosses lakes wherever possible, to save costs. 75% of
the 350 kilometres to the Diavik Mine is built over frozen lakes.
It takes from 15 to 19 hours to travel to Diavik, depending on the
trucks’ loads. Approximately 60% of the heavy vehicles using
the road are fuel tankers.

Winter isnt a bad thing.Just because you want to bash stocks doesnt mean you are right do some DD on what you are saying please.I dont like to argue.I drove a water tanker for oil rigs in eastern Ohio and western Pa.I know you can drill in the winter and how much easier allot of it can be without the deep mud and ground pumping from the trucks tearing up dirt roads to get to the rigs.BEEN THERE DONE THAT.You have tough hard men out there not little sissies They where heavy clothes and dont take no s**t from anyone. Its like theyre all ex MARINES or something.Youll probably never understand.
