<<Btw, your assertion, "with gold, the commercials are just about always net short by some amount as many producers still hedge their future sales" is incorrect.

The commercials are usually on the other side of the secular trend in the gold futures market and as a result were long throughout most of the multi year bear market preceeding the current bull.>>

I agree, only net short consistently since about May, 2001

Dan,

I did not answer your question about January 9.

The week ending December 3, the Larry Williams GOLD set-up reached its most bearish. It has been gradually improving ever since, which is about typical as the commercials unwind their dominant positions.

OT "..home of the fighting Florida strain micropterus salmoides"

I had to go look this up, thinking I would find some little creepy-crawly little salmonella-like microbe that infests the cracks of your skin, or some such other evil fungus. LOL.

Around here they're called big-mouth bass, because in our mountain rivers the small-mouth is also very common. I grew up in Oklahoma, where they were most commonly called black bass, or wide-mouth bass.

I thought they were the most fun fish in the world to catch, but the first time I got hold of a 2½ pound small mouth after I moved to East Tennessee, I found its equal.
