You must be joking, right? Short selling is extremly small compared to the selling done by LONGS. Maybe you should aim your bullets to the real problem. Fundies LONG selling and the huge number of individual investors that have been moving money out of stocks.

Would you please explain how shorting affects the economy. It seems to me that although it may temporarily affect share price, the short has to be covered and in no case would it have any effect on the economy as money does not disappear, it merely shifts owners.

Could you cite an example where the economy has been altered by shorting.
