Does anyone feel [VRUS’] guanine program was started after consultation with Roche or did VRUS act independently?

The latter. We know from the chronology that VRUS developed PSI-938 independently of the toxicity problems with ITMN-191. PSI-938 was formally announced by VRUS in Jul 2009 (#msg-39322313) and was obviously in the works for some time prior to that; ITMN’s revelation that ITMN-191 had serious toxicity problems occurred in Nov 2009 (#msg-43632598).
