Unfortunately, taking advantage of corporate policys seems to be the norm. rather that the exception (in the U.S.). It used to be a lot worse, though.
I used to work for a large film producer in North Hollywood. One week on a big project, I spent over $500 a day (2 days) on dining a crew and assosiates. I felt so guilty, that the 3rd day I stayed in my hotel room and rented a Mario Brothers game for $5.
After I handed in my expense report, I got the dreaded phone call from the CFO; "We can't reimburse you for the Mario game - that is a personal expense."
The $1,000 steak and beer bill was a business expense- no problem....
I never stayed in my hotel playing Mario Brothers again !
