Big pharmacy is looking for completion of the tox package and filing for the IND. That is when the best deal will be struck everything before that will be for fractions of of the royalty they could otherwise get. Likewise the early offers would put the entire intellectual property at risk as big pharmacy in early stage negotiations will be looking to lock up the technology for all indications.
Big pharma IS interested at least they are in EKC itself - Alcon has invested $500 million in an EKC aganocide with NovaBay the company involved and they got $100 million from Alcon. And the stuff affects the cornea! Not encouraging for a $500 million investment!
So NNVC is in the right place at the right time particularly when the EKC-Cide we have will NOT affect the cornea. It's time for Alcon to realize this! Or at least some other eye care company. But I guess a $500 million investment is hard to write off as a failure. Like another Edsel.
Remember that before the Big Pharma even started working on EKC-CIDE that tests were done by NNVC with success. Then there was added testing at Feinstein University on Long Island and those are not connected to each other.
There were two successful test programs before the Big Pharma even looked into EKC-CIDE. That was enough for the Big Pharma to work on EKC-CIDE for 18 months by paying another independant research company to look into EKC-CIDE.
The tests were not cut short to save money and went the whole distance with EKC-CIDE.
At the same time results came out that NNVC works on HSV also and that could be another whole field.
At NNVC and at Feinstein University the EKC-CIDE tests took a long time as they had to get the test rabbits and check them out. The independant research company could get rabbits and set them up sooner. There was no shortage of money for the independant research company as they were paid for by the BIG PHARMA.
At this time the attention is most likely on amounts and splits with NNVC and payments later on EKC-CIDE. A real big game of poker.
As in poker no one is supposed to look at the players cards.
