Thanks for the correction, but I think you reinforced my point, which was that none of the wars were "preemptive" as Brightness claimed. I couldn't recall the details of how the Suez conflict began, though I knew that Nasser had done something or another to begin it. 1982 comes the closest to being preemptive (aside of course from the Iraqi reactor bombing, but that wasn't a war and was successful exactly because it was so well defined), but even then, Israel was being attacked, though not by an official national "army". The preemptive part of it was continuing to the Beirut subhurbs--and that was part of the disaster that followed, as I would at least guess you agree.
BTW, if you recall the name of that ambassador who told Saddam that Iraqi-Kuwaiti matters were internal, could you repeat it? Thanks.
