Why AMD processors are not optimized can be found in Intel's reply to the first set of FTC interrogatories.

Maybe once Intel is forced (as is required in the settlement) to disclose every case in its compiler and libraries where optimizations are not applied to non-Intel processors, they'll suddenly find a reason to switch.

You don't know why AMD performance isn't optimized do you?

Once the developers realize they'll have even more reason to stick with Intel.

You mean why vendor ID rather than the capability support flags are used to determine which code path to take?

If it's such an advantage for Intel, you have to wonder why they didn't just document the differences before...
