wbmw, If AMD were planning to exit the uP business, why in the world would they have embarked on the Hammer initiative? The writing should have been on the wall for them for quite a while. Why would they have invested in the AMDMe campaign?

Could it be that these initiatives were started by Sanders and could only be turned off once he had stepped aside? Also, how far "aside" do you think he has stepped?

John, with $3B in sales with the joint flash venture and no CPU losses holding them down, AMD could once again become a profitable company. Why let the competitive CPU market weigh them down?

One reason...... Jerry Sanders. His hatred of intel, and his presence still on the Board Of Directors. It might give people the idea that his Jihad against intel failed, and I don't believe he will let that happen.
