Thanks, ZChef. That figure of $75K for three POS terminals is useful for comparison. More details would help our understanding:
Is that cost per terminal inclusive of the installation costs? Or does the restaurant owner still have to pay a contractor and electrician to run the wires and power supplies? How much is that going to cost in addition? FIRMS is going to eliminate most of the wires.
Does the $4200 annual support cost cover installation and setup, all three terminals, and rapid hardware replacements in case of failures? If one of the units fails during a busy holiday season when the restaurant is crowded and trying to manage reservation bookings online, does the company replace it quickly at no additional cost so the business continues to function smoothly? With FIRMS, one can pull out a spare ipod touch, blackberry, or ipad to expand or replace dead hardware immediately. iPods cost $2-300, iPads $500. Much less than $25K per terminal. One HALO terminal = 50 iPads! For $75K, you could install an iPad at every one of 100 tables and still have $25K left over to pay the software costs!
What is the expected lifespan for the terminals? Most computers today are obsolete in 3 to 5 years. Will you have to pay another $75K for new hardware a few years down the road?
Does the SaaS cloud solution from HALO include online reservations, inventory management, and the other bells and whistles promised by Lecere? How open is the HALO system to using your own handheld devices or desktops to communicate with it for reservations, inventory tracking, and data mining? Or would they need to sell you additional proprietary products to do these things?
Are there additional per transaction fees for the cloud data management, for sales tickets, inventory orders, online reservations or take-out orders, etc.?
Lecere FIRMS pitch:
Point of sales (POS), with online delivery or takeout accessible via a web browser, PDA, or cell phone Networked, multiple-restaurant accounting Powerful online reservations capability for restaurants, accessible via a web browser, PDA, or cell phone Mapping and geocoding for directions to the restaurant, display of nearby, and optimized delivery Data mining, which allows the restaurant to target selected customers for special offers
All of the skeptics who say that the annual costs of the FIRMS product will be prohibitive for a small restaurant do not seem to understand what the alternatives cost!
I know it is a lot of questions!
Can you point us to a website or sales brochure for the HALO system so interested investors here can look into it?
