rus, thanks much for this. I hadn't heard of resveratrol before. Does anyone know much about it, like effectiveness against AD, appropriate dosage, which product to buy? I'm looking at Bioforte and Transmax -- http://www.biotivia.com/resveratrol/reviews/best-quality-resveratrol.html .

I've been treating my mother with 900 mg. of ALGAL-900 DHA per diem for about a month and a half and would be willing to attest to the fact that it has had definite positive effects on her mild to moderate AD, dementia. Am also praying to the Lord to heal her. Exodus 15:26 -- "for I am the LORD that healeth thee".

This gives me pause -- "Drugs that activate sirtuin already exist, including resveratrol, a minor ingredient of red wine and other foods, and small-molecule chemicals designed to mimic resveratrol. Sirtris, the company that developed the drugs, is testing them against diabetes and other diseases. This generation of drugs does not cross the blood-brain barrier so would not work against Alzheimer’s." But anecdotal evidence suggests increased mental clarity. And there's this: "Just started to use the Transmax product. After two months, I wake up with more energy which lasts the whole day. I usually sleep well, but now I sleep better and fall asleep quicker. I also believe that my mental energy is improved, better attention and improved memory."

Sound familiar?

I think Sitris is now in Gsk's deep pocket. They are more focused on the easier low hanging fruit (diabetes). Neurodegenerative disease will be 10+ year project. JMO
