In hindsight I should have exited when Margolin left. He was a (relatively) young guy and the basis for their technology. I remember Berkle trying to spin it but even back then he (Berkle) came across as not the most competent of CEO's so it wasn't a warm fuzzy feeling to have Berkle in charge and the technology founder gone.
I had missed rkrw's link but to acquire Trizytek for a song and sell out to Lilly for 180 million + potential for 200 more... Yeah I would say your characterization of bandits is certainly appropriate! I blame ineptness of management (mainly Berkle) then something more sinister.
