#1230 RE: Ruellit #1228

Ron, I respect you and Greg, but I think you just made a huge mistake right now. Nobody wants to be part of a community where they have to bend their open thoughts around any kind of TOU. I agree that *some* agreement is needed to preserve order, but you and Greg are taking it too far.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I think this needs to be said: I was very enthusiastic about this board, and wrote private messages to many people on Silicon Investor inviting them to come over. Some people did come, but those that didn't all had the same reason: that they didn't like the kind of moderation, and that it was too harsh. I'm beginning to agree.

I think you guys should seriously rethink your moderation strategy, or you will apt to lose far more membership than if you had no moderation at all. If you want to go back to having an Intel thread that no one posts on, be my guest. Of course, I had the feeling that you were willing to try and prevent that from happening.

No excuses. Listen to the forum members. If you're not providing them the service they paid for, they leave. Simple as that.

I didn't see the offending post so I don't know what was in it, however I certainly hope the moderators are mature enough to allow some interaction between posters. We are adults here and the ignore feature works just fine, I know because I've used it twice already. So please don't treat us like children. I for one can take a little teasing or even an occasional rude comment. You've got to allow some leeway or you'll simply drive people away.
