thats a question I have been asking to everyone I speak with ...without an ex date set you may be required to hold your shares until the ex date is announced it may take up to 45 days from what Im told...and if you sell before the ex-date well no dice on the shares....it is being treated differently as a dividend but will follow some of the same rules...

In the past on a share distribution---when the company inquires from your broker ---your broker will look at your acct on the record date the company gives and then respond ---yes or no---if yes, then will provide the number of shares in your acct on that date.

The last sentence you wrote is the correct fact. You wrote,

Your question: Or do you have to own KATX share from the 16th up until the BIVG dividend?

The Answer, Yes, you have to own them both until you are allowed to sell the "dividend" part (BVIG).

Mugunga - It Depends on the 25 Percent FINRA Rule Being Met

If KATX distributes around 57 million shares to shareholders, then I think 25 percent of the total value of BVIG will be met.

If this does take place, the ex-date (exit date) will be the first business day after the pay date. KAT Explorations has said the pay date could be up to 45 days after the 16th.

If you sell you KATX stock before the ex-date, you will loose you BVIG shares. So, when you can sell KATX and still keep you BVIG shares depends on the official ex-date.

All that said, I DO NOT THINK SELLING KATX will be a good idea. I, like many, SUSPECT A BIG PIECE OF NEWS IS COMING VERY VERY SOON.

Granted, that is just opinion and not fact. But it is my honest opinion.
