Black, IMHO MaxPain is only valid as a predictor for QQQQ when there is A LOT of Calls and Puts oustanding i.e. when the Open Interest is very large (just like now), and when there is NO significant market-moving event shortly before O/E (like 9/11).

have not studied MaxPain for stocks, just for QQQQs, so, can't comment on it.
