If you start with plastics containing only hydrocarbons, pyrolysis and cracking are substantially similar. Refineries have been doing that for years. There will be a small amount of longer chain alkanes left over after a pass-through and those are simply fed back in with the next pass.

As far as I know from Mr. Bordynuiks claims, he says that his catalyst is able to break longer chains down further than other catalysts. I don't see any value add there when using only hydrocarbons as feedstock.

And this is in response to Mr. Bordynuik's theorizing out loud that he wants to only take in hydrocarbon-only plastics. There was no word on what type of feedstock he actually used for Islechem's testing.
