I can't say I completely disagree with you 'justlookin', but, for me, the service makes sense.
I'm a businessman, I have a blackberry, I do use all its features and routinely access more info than Go800 provides. But.......I live in Canada (Calgary to be exact ID), and maybe what you don't know (but you could confirm) is that 'smart' phone plans up here can easily run you three to four times what you'd pay in the U.S. for the same service/usage. It's called lack of competition on account of foreign ownership restrictions (we only really have two or three service providers). I can afford to use the full gamut (it costs me a couple hundred $+ a month and the cost/benefit works for me), but many folks up here can't and opt to use 'text' and e-mail options instead (even if they own a 'smart' phone as 'data' usage is cost prohibitive).
As I've said before, I think people will be surprised at how well this will be received in Canada and how BIG a market it is (and again...MANY succesful U.S. brands and franchises test-marketed and substantiated themselves up here and then were rolled out down there because we are an easier market to penetrate and confirm or perfect a business model).
Really, I think the preponderance of Canadians espousing the virtues of Go800 and investing in the stock (despite not being able to test the service yet) is because we NEED and will USE this type of service. I know I will, even though I have the capability and can afford to do as you do with your Iphone, Blackberry, or whatever...if I'm in traffic downtown and want/need to get in touch with a business that I have NOT programmed into my phone, nothing could be easier or simpler than texting a keyword I can readily remember and then having my phone ring with a live voice!
Maybe some other 'third-world' countries will take to this too.
