The military has been supporting the development of this technology for years, but it appears to now be on the cusp of success at least in small-screen applications. Two pure OLED plays are PANL (owns a great many basic patents, with a RMBS-style business model) and OLED (a recent IPO). Kodak also holds many basic patents, but some are set to expire in the next few years.
