MS did a good job driving Pocket PC adoption on Xscale and they had some ok success with Win CE in phones but then Apple came and drank both of those milkshakes.
I'm not convinced meego is anything special on either x86 or ARM. It certainly won't make or break Intel.
Agreed. Android is running away from it and everything else right now.
Honestly I think Intel should get Microsoft to get its head on straight and try to do something useful in the Smart Phone market. MS has really dropped the ball here. Otherwise we get Apple as our new Overlord and master.
That's the one thing that could tip the scales towards x86... A comprehensive push into smartphones by MS, with a worthy OS and including subsidies. (WinXP for $3 is not going to compete against Android in the smartphone market.)
PS: You of all people should be VERY afraid of APPLE. Not really a play nice and open standards kind of company...
I detest Apple's products/MO for exactly that reason: Closed/proprietary/supervised. In stark contrast to Android.
