I just was commenting on the problem we have here in the NW. I don't and I won't get into long discussion here; I simply don't have the time. Yes I think we need Nuclear Power. Today's nuclear power plants are much safer than those of old; as one poster here commented, most of nuclear waste we are having problems with are left over from the early experiments and uses. However, I know we need a good disposal system too. I also know we have ways of cleaning and recycling most of it now.
However, I don't think the answer is just nuclear, it is wind, solar, geo thermal, wave, tide and a plethora of other ideas. We need to get off oil for many reasons. We'll still need oil for all of those damned plastic needs as well as lubes. However, a common sense approach of all of the available sources where they are best used is the way to go. These giant petroleum companies are killing the planet, and it is not just the pollution, their stranglehold on politicians is as mighty as their profits. JMO.
