Given the terrible pall the BP disaster has now cast on offshore drilling operations it would seem logical that more emphasis would be shifted toward developing oil sources that have less environmental impact. In view of that idea, the exploitation of oil sands may be given renewed attention, especially if the extraction methods of these deposits can be made more economical.
