Yes and since this is a "dividend in another company" and is restricted then FINRA normally will set it as "will not be qoted ex" in which case the record date probably will end up being the important date.
If not, then the record date will be meaningless and the rules I'm posting kick in and ex dividend date is the only one that counts.
I've seen literally hundreds of company news releases where it was all screwed up.
Better to know how things work ahead of time, especially for those here that have said they will never sell and will wait for cash dividends...then they need to know these rules.
