I would imagine that many companies are working on CC reader devices that can be piggy-backed onto smart phones.
I like the integrated case design of the mophie unit, which looks much cleaner and more stable than a dongle hanging out of the earphone jack.
Plus, a protective case for the iPad is a must in a bustling restaurant setting, where drinks or food could get spilled on it, or it could be dropped easily. A rubberized case with the card reader and the restaurant logo would be the right sort of product for this. Only a matter of time before one of the umpteen case makers produces it.
