I was at a dept of defense meeting explaining jet engine and plane development, and they said a jet engine being developed in 1982 did not make it into to planes for 15 years. they were trying to figure out how to speed it up. I think this was 96-97.

Hell the steath planes we have were first based/flown in 1982 and developed years before that. They are ancient technology

I think it would be a mistake to speed things up too much, BWDIK!
