We are in general agreement then, I had only justcfrall's statements about approximately 1200 trees. I used his metric of X100 because of his using costs per hundred from buying from TATF to his final tree sale to david at 10 $ per tree. He also only expects a max of 8-10 nice trees at final harvest x100.
Based on that 10$ a tree was a reasonable recouping on his part. I had a much firmer hand dealt to me from texas ag.
Justcfall used the cutter ants and some wind damage, plus the failure of TATF to replant seedlings that had died in the first year for his metric of loss.
cutter ants can be minimised by pesticides,TATF never did it with his trees.
This only matters if you investors don't mind waiting an additional 10 years: The?? lack? of culling is undoubtedly leading to some stunting and possible root entangling and general slowness of developing the heartwood. It might possibly lead to less value of the final product since knots will be deeper into the teak.
