that's what I initally assumed but I forgot about the margin requirements for shorting pennies, it doesn't make sense. My best guess was that when we were rallying day traders looking for a gap up, but most day traders won't take an overnight position.
We don't know what day this is going to run or start running, so it could just be longs waiting to get best price to add to thier position.
