#95769 RE: Preciouslife1 #95764

OT:  If you think the guys in the medical department are funny, wait until you get a load of the boys in accounting.  I had my "Welcome to Medicare" physical in February of 2008.  I have been receiving information about it ever since from Medicare and, consequently, my supplemental insurance carrier.  Initially, Medicare approved an amount higher than what my physician had charged.  That was my very first experience in trying to puzzle out the cryptic financial doodlings that pass for Medicare "explanations of benefits", and before I was two months into the Medicare experience, I gave up trying to account for the financial antics.  Medicare, however, did not give up in its dogged but heroic attempt to wrestle to the ground the rather simple physician's bill for services rendered.  Each "no, wait a minute, here's the deal" from Medicare of course necessitated a "well, then, here's our new deal" from my insurance carrier (and all this for a minor matter for which I was not financially responsible).

I am happy to report that the boys in the back room apparently have this all figured out as of about two weeks ago--at least, that's what the paperwork seemed to be saying, and I haven't received any contradictory information since.  I can't wait until the government drones get their claws into everyone's medical bills, instead of being forced to limit themselves to old geezers like me.  The government should be able to recoup some of the medical expenses by selling tickets to watch the bookkeepers!  There were obviously many hours of expensive government time spent on this matter (on a bill of around $100).

I know that, in the interest of credibility, I should have scanned that last communication from Medicare and attached it here, but I, who once kept meticulous records on medical expenses, discounts, reimbursements, and third-party payments now just throw the unintelligible communications about my health expenses into the trash, and I didn't think of doing otherwise until the banana peels and soup bones had despoiled the latest "explanation".
