Wow - that is like learning to fly, starting on a carrier deck during a war. You learn quickly or you are dead.
I see the point of shorting options in theory, and even looked at doing it once because of the chance to pick up the premiums (especially on expiring options), but decided the extra risk was not worth it. I very much agree about the risks associated with being long in this market and almost never carry a long position home overnight. The risk of news assassinating your positions overnight is just too great. The same applies in taking home short positions in a bull market - too much overnight news risk.
