and those loans were not bought by the government but put out and securitized - they were selling trash or have you been abscent from what's been happening to derivitives and rating agencies these last few years. Where were most of them written and sold - private non-regulated companies and when states tried to regulate them - schazam shrubs Feds came in and said that's the Fed's job - lol
